Taylor Swift Tarot

My Journey With Taylor and Tarot

It was 2006. I was fourteen years old, scrolling MySpace when I stumbled upon a blonde country artist named Taylor Swift and her song “Tim McGraw.” I remember typing her name into YouTube to watch the music video. and from that moment on, I was a fan.

In October 2006, her debut album became the soundtrack to my teenage experience, and I listened to it on repeat well into 2007. When “Love Story” dropped as the first single from Fearless, my best friend Mandy and I rushed to the computer to watch the video and freak out over everything new to come. From that point forward, I grew up with Taylor , each album marking a chapter of my own story. For every heartbreak, every rebirth, every transformation, there was a song that fit perfectly.

Over the years, I’ve seen many people join the fandom during different eras. I just so happen to be one of those fans who’s been here since the very beginning , a few years younger than Taylor, but always right behind her, learning, growing, and healing through her words.

I’ve always been here for the music , not the discourse, not the celebrity. I listen, I feel, and I take from her work what I need. That’s how it began, and that’s how it will always be

At 16 years old, I received my first tarot deck and began learning the symbolism of the cards — a journey that would span over a decade and, unbeknownst to me at the time, would grow into a passion I’d one day turn into a profession.

.So when I saw that an unofficial Taylor Swift Eras Tarot deck was being released, I pre-ordered it immediately. When it arrived, I couldn’t wait to dive into the ways Taylor’s symbolism and lyricism could align with Tarot archetypes how her words might mirror the soul lessons each card embodies.

The deck itself is stunning: bright, colorful, and cleverly illustrated. But as I explored, I realized the creators had chosen songs based more on imagery than lyrical meaning. While that makes sense from an artistic standpoint, as both a Tarot reader and someone deeply familiar with Taylor’s songwriting, I couldn’t help but feel a twinge of disappointment. It was a missed opportunity, because Taylor Swift’s lyrics already hold the emotional and archetypal weight that Tarot thrives on.

So, I decided to take it upon myself to create my own song choices for every tarot card.

A complete Taylor Swift Tarot — 78 cards, each matched to the song that most authentically embodies its meaning.
