The Tower, Liminal Space, and the voice within.
When I was the most lost on the surface, my guides spoke the loudest.
There is something about the moments right after destruction, the collapse of something you once believed unshakable. In tarot, this is The Tower. That gut-wrenching revelation that what you thought was solid was actually built on fragile foundations. Suddenly, it crashes and burns before your eyes, leaving you stranded on your own little island, forced to abandon ship and watch the wreckage sink into the depths.
When I’ve had my Tower moments, whether self-inflicted or not, the aftermath always began with silence. A deafening, aching silence. And then, out of the stillness, a whisper. At first soft, then clearer, until it became the loudest voice in my head: “Hey girl, this is a good thing. You just can’t see it yet.”
That whisper was my inner knowing. And as I gathered the remnants of joy from the rubble, I began the slow, sacred process of rebuilding.
What follows the Tower is what I call the liminal space, what some call “the in-between.” It is that suspended place between the remnants of what was and the promise of what can be. At first, it feels lonely. Desolate. Like no one else could possibly understand. But then you realize, you’ve had yourself the whole time. And when you begin to befriend that inner self, the loneliness begins to dissolve.
In spiritual terms, liminal space is the “space between worlds.” And when we find ourselves there in life, lost by society’s standards, disoriented in the wake of collapse, the veil grows thin. Spirit can reach us more easily. Guides send signs. Messages arrive. And for once, we are quiet enough to hear them.
So if you’ve hit rock bottom, if you feel stuck in the in-between: stop. Breathe. Listen. Your inner voice is waiting, and your guides are closer than you think. They are finding ways to place you back on your highest path, you just have to listen.
